Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen. Authenticity requires a genuine sharing of our inner self, irrespective of the consequences. Very often, our actions in a given moment are intended to avoid certain consequences. And so we alter or mitigate our communications or behavior to assure that those consequences won’t be negative or problematic. These tendencies diminish our authenticity and they constrain our growth and self esteem . Being authentic requires a genuine sharing in the present moment. Authenticity requires vulnerability, transparency & integrity.
Vulnerability here does not mean being weak or submissive. To the contrary, it implies the courage to be yourself. It involves uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage. We love seeing raw truth and openness in other people, but we're afraid to let them see it in us. We're afraid that our truth isn't enough - that what we have to offer isn't enough without the bells and whistles, without editing, and impressing. Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change. To create is to make something that has never existed before. There’s nothing more vulnerable than that.

Chi Lin: Expressionist Portraits and Abstractions.

Chi Lin is an emerging artist who specializes in expressionist portraits and abstract city and landscapes. He pulls inspiration from exploration of character, individuality, and self-expression. He applies vibrant acrylics using painting knives and thick brushes to create energetic, textured pieces. Through his art, he seeks to evoke emotion and provoke thought by bringing the viewer into the inner world of the subject. Most recently, he has begun collaborating with musicians to create paintings for album artwork.
